Our People

    Meet the Specialists Behind Visionary

Visionary Marketing is run by senior specialists, not account managers. The person who scopes your account is the same person who writes the strategy, executes the work, and reports on it. Below is who that person is — what they've done, where they trained, and the verifiable evidence that the experience is real.

    Origin

From In-House Performance Manager to Agency Founder

In late 2021 I joined LITELOK as the sole performance marketer. Within three months I'd increased ROAS 4× over the previous external agency — the fourth in a row to take the account. Three predecessor agencies had failed to move those numbers. I wasn't smarter than them; I was just the only person responsible. No layers, no handoffs, no junior executing what a senior had scoped. That experience — being the one accountable, executing rather than supervising — is what shaped Visionary's model.

Before LITELOK, the path looked like this. I started at One Sunderland in August 2017 — a 9-month contract that became my first proper marketing role, a generalist position covering social media, marketing collateral, and stakeholder relationships. From April 2018 I spent six months at Together for Children, the fostering and adoption agency at Sunderland City Council, managing campaigns that drove enquiries to help vulnerable children find families. It was the first time I was personally accountable to OFSTED inspectors and senior stakeholders for budget and outcomes. The stakes weren't theoretical.

From September 2018 to April 2020 I was the sole digital marketing specialist at durhamlane, a B2B sales acceleration agency in Newcastle. With no SEO budget I generated approximately £250,000 in new-business revenue through SEO alone, and 50% year-on-year page-view growth across six months. This is where the technical depth comes from — Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, HotJar, GTM, schema, technical SEO, and CRO, learned the hard way without a senior to hand the audit to.

A short technical SEO contract at Wriggle Marketing followed in mid-2020, then Allies Group from July 2020 to November 2021 as Digital Marketing Manager. I had direct management of five specialists across SEO, PPC, and paid social, and switched the hiring strategy: instead of buying expensive senior generalists, hire graduates and train them into channel-specific specialism. That's where the conviction came from that senior-only delivery requires senior-only training — and that most agencies don't actually train, they outsource.

Visionary was founded in October 2021, set up alongside continuing freelance work, then run full-time after the LITELOK engagement. The model from day one: senior specialists working directly with clients, no junior account managers, no long-term contracts. Clients stay because the performance compounds, not because a contract obliges them to.

Visionary now works with clients ranging from B2B lead-gen service providers with contracts worth over £250,000 to eCommerce furniture companies and Series A and B startups. The mix is deliberately broad because the underlying skill — turning organic and paid search into measurable revenue — applies across verticals. The thing that doesn't change is who runs the account.

    Visionary Marketing

    Founder & Lead Specialist

Founded alongside continuing freelance work. The model from day one: senior specialists working directly with clients, no junior account managers, no long-term contracts. Clients stay because performance compounds, not because a contract obliges them to.

    Operating Model

    How the Agency Operates

What Visionary doesn't do. No sales-heavy model chasing volume. No account managers sitting between strategy and execution. No specialists spread across fifteen client accounts each. The agency is built around the opposite: senior specialists, fewer accounts per person, deeper context, real accountability.

What "senior" actually means. Most agencies call any 3-year hire "senior". Visionary's working definition is 6+ years specifically in the channel they're delivering, the ability to write strategy AND execute it, and direct experience of in-house performance roles so they understand the pressure clients are under. Chris has personally trained five specialists into senior-channel-specialist roles via the Allies Group graduate pipeline — that's where the conviction comes from that depth requires deliberate training, not just job titles.

Why no long-term contracts. The honest answer: contracts hide poor performance. Clients staying because they have to is not retention — it is delay. Visionary operates month-to-month because the model only survives if performance continues to compound. If a client wants to leave at month seven, they should be able to. Most don't.

The reporting position. Most agencies optimise for conversions. Visionary optimises for profit. Conversions don't always equal profit — a £20 conversion that costs £30 to acquire is a loss. Reporting structures are built around ROAS, attributable revenue, and customer lifetime value, not vanity metrics like impressions or rankings.

    Daily Work

What Chris Actually Does on a Client Account

Specifics, not job-description abstractions. If you sign with Visionary, this is the work Chris performs personally each week.

    Strategy

Scopes the brief with the client lead directly, runs technical SEO audits using Screaming Frog and Ahrefs, defines the keyword strategy by sub-vertical, and builds a 12-month roadmap with measurable milestones. None of this is handed off to a junior to draft.

    Execution

Writes content briefs with named target queries. Implements technical SEO changes via the dev team or directly. Builds Google Ads campaigns in Google Ads Editor (not the web UI for serious campaign work). Manages Google Shopping feed optimisation. Sets up GA4, GTM, Search Console, and conversion tracking properly — most agencies skip this.

    Reporting

Builds custom dashboards in Looker Studio or directly in the client's BI platform. Reports show ROAS, revenue attribution, cost per qualified lead, and customer lifetime value. Not impressions. Not vanity rankings.

    Training & education

Writes plain-English explainers for client teams who need to understand what's being done. Documents decisions so the agency engagement is replicable in-house if the client ever brings it back internally. The work shouldn't be a black box.

    Location

Why Visionary Is Headquartered in Newcastle

Visionary is headquartered at City Quadrant in Newcastle. Chris is from the North East and committed to the region long-term. There are additional client-meeting offices in London (City Road) and Middlesbrough (Victoria Road), but the work and the senior specialists are based in Newcastle.

Why this matters: a lot of London agencies charge London rates while subcontracting work to junior teams or to overseas suppliers. Visionary charges Newcastle rates with Newcastle-based senior delivery. Clients in London and elsewhere pay less than they would for an equivalent service in central London, and the work is done by the named specialists they meet. There's no bait-and-switch between the pitch deck and the delivery team because they're the same person.

The North East has no shortage of ambitious businesses that want straight answers and measurable results. That suits us.

durhamlane: Catching the Catastrophic SEO Issue Other Experts Missed

Before founding Visionary, Chris was the sole Digital Marketing Specialist at durhamlane — a Newcastle B2B sales acceleration business. The headline moment: catching a pre-launch technical SEO issue that would have cost the business hundreds of thousands of pounds, after every previously-engaged consultant had signed off.

"Chris is a real master of SEO and PPC. He discovered what could have been a catastrophic SEO issue that would have cost the business £100,000s — that every other so-called SEO expert we'd engaged had missed."

Case Study — Google Ads · UK Furniture E-commerce

Strictly Beds and Bunks: 9.31x ROAS on Their First Google Ads Campaign

Strictly Beds and Bunks — a UK e-commerce retailer specialising in beds, bunk beds, and bedroom furniture — had only ever run Facebook ads. We built their first Google Shopping programme from scratch: feed engineered for furniture-attribute precision, PMax architecture tuned to a long-consideration high-AOV purchase cycle, branded vs non-brand spend separated.

Month one delivered £51.7K in tracked conversion value from £7.2K spend — a 9.31x return on a vertical where many UK furniture retailers settle for 3-4x. They've since had to expand warehouse capacity to keep up.
